Darkest dungeon assert failed как исправить
Lately, i have this lines appearing after i click on the name of my estate. Not sure what caused it as i have not touched it for a few weeks now. It was fine before. The only thing that happned recently is a Windows 10 update. Could it be the reason? Help is appreciated
I had tried uninstalling and re-installing so far, and clicking on the letter of the estates work but it wont save my progress. Had also tried the suggestions of RedHook Dana,
https://steamcommunity.com/app/262060/discussions/3/144513524089102095/?ctp=1
verifying integrity of files, disabling steam cloud & steam overlays.
A bit of an update. I had managed to solve this bug.
Turns out my steam cloud was causing this problem. (so when u try to install then uninstall the game, steam cloud downloads back the game with the assert fail error)
So, u need to erase your steam cloud completely (disabling steam cloud on the properties on the game won’t work).
Once u have COMPLETELY cleared your steam cloud by overwriting it with the new local files, everything should work.
I have no high hopes for the previous saves though (i myself haven’t tested out my previous saves as i was going to start new anyways after a long time without playing it), u have to start completely fresh and your progress might be lost.
I still have no idea what caused the error in my steam cloud in the first place.

I cannot load into anything I don’t have a save and when I try create a campaign I get to the cutscene sometimes I watch it all or I skip it and the same error occurs, I uninstalled it, tried with mods and no mods and this error still occurs. Any help is appreciated thanks
do you have any mods installed?
have you tried right clicking on the game in the game library go to properties, then Local files, click on the verify integrity of game files. doing this will overwrite any currupt files.
i have also seen that completely exiting Steam, relaunching Steam, the game some how fixes it self.

mmmm the only thing i can think of is to click on the picture of the letter next to the name of the save you are using and not on the file name when trying to load the game.
i know it sounds weird and i hope you under stood what i meant, but give it a go.
EDIT: another thing you could try is creating an new game, then exit the game go to \Steam\userdata\ \262060\remote then change the profile numbers around then try and load it.

When you go to load your game try clicking on the letter to the left of the named game in the list. I get the assert error when I click on the game name, but not when I click on the letter. Go figure!

I can’t do anything to them because I need the administrator to allow me
sometimes it works when I restart my computer only sometimes
well from what you said, your problem seems to be a file permision problem if you are getting administration problems make sure any anti virus software or firewalls are not restricting the game files.

Darkest Dungeon®
I am getting this bug everytime I try to start a new game or load my old one. I can’t find any info on how to fix it so help me please.
Try running steam as an admin
and reverify your game cache
Got that error again, this time a restart didn’t fix it.
That’s why you don’t roll out an update prior to holidays 🙁
It wont even allow me to create a new game now, I get the error on when I try to make a new save.
Maybe its due to me disabling my drivers signature, It did occur after that, i’ll test
This is really screwed up. I want to take back my comment that a PC restart fixed the problem. The saving system does strange things and stuff got messed up.
After I got that error the first time, I deleted the save folder of the first slot (profile_0), started the game and got a pseudo-save named «Darkest» with Week 0 on the first slot. A PC restart seemingly fixed the slot and I could start a new game on Slot 2 and Slot 3 with no problems.
But when I try to start a new game on Slot 0, I always start in Hamlet, with 0 heros and 0 gold and progress won’t be saved. I deleted all steam/userdata and user/xy/darkest files and the slot stays broken. Paired with the PC restarting behaviour, I suspect that the game hides some save related files somewhere in the system that get messed up.
So now I resorted to deleting Slot 2 and guess what, I can’t start a new game because Assert Failed.
Addendum: Cloud save was disabled from the start.

I am getting the Assert Failed crash many people have reported. For those unfamiliar:
StoreManager::TransferFile in storage_manager.cpp line 879
Couldn’t write whole file?
The crash occurs when I attempt to create a new game in a specific save file. Old saves are not affected. I am able to load my previous save just fine. This happened on a fresh install on a new computer. (That is to say I had saves in the cloud from playing on a different computer).
Interestingly enough, the game allows me to create one new save no problem. Then the save slot where I attempt to create the next new game is corrupted, meaning anytime I attempt to create a new save in it, it will cause the above crash. Afterwards, no further save slots are corrupted, that is to say, I can freely create and delete a recreate saves in all other slots.
The problem definitely lies in this folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\»Steam User ID #»\262060\remote
The corrupted save slot shows up as having a folder, but if you attempt to open it, it says access denied, most likely the cause of the crash.
Last detail, reinstalling the game seems to reset this process. Meaning it will again let you create a new game, then corrupt a slot, then fine. And all saves created previous to this process are fully accessible.
I hope this can help others to understand this error and maybe even help Red Hook solve it, as I can see other users suffering it under different circumstances.
Feel free to comment with your own experiences and we’ll try and see how your particular circumstances are being affected.

So while I was playing on my modded game, I get a few crashes, and on the last crash, I go back in the game and try and load up my save. I’m greeted with a black screen and this message:
StorageManager::TransferFile in storage_manager.cpp line 889
couldn’t write whole file?
Pressing escape then closes the game. I was confused, restarted the game, and it continued. Restarted my computer, and it continued. Restarted the game again, and it still continued.
I then looked online, and found that other people have had similar problems a few years ago, with a different line number. I’ve tried a lot of their solutions, including:
— Backing up save data and then deleting the save files
— Running steam as administrator
— Turning off cloud save, then deleting the profile part of the save data, then restarting
— Deleting EVERYTHING related to darkest dungeon, reinstalling, and putting the save games back in
— Playing without mods or DLC
— Making a new save
— Verifying the integrity of the game cache
— Clicking the letter to the left of the estate name (this brought me in, but it any progress would be immediately lost).
Now, there are two interesting things to note with this issue:
1, I tried removing everything related to darkest dungeon, deleting all profiles, and playing the game that’s supposed to be fresh without mods and only dlc, and then I got this when the game started loading the old road:
open_RestoreData in serialize_json.cpp line 931
If this isn’t a binary file or a json file, what is it? persist.narration.json
Pressing escape this time didn’t close the game, but instead brought me to the old road. I went through the old road, and then immediately exited to title to see if my progress was saved and if everything’s working fine. I clicked the name to bring me back into the game, and something odd happened: it acted as if there was both a corrupted game in that slot and no game in that slot, because the DLC selection screen when creating a new game popped up and a message saying my save was corrupted also popped up at the same time. I clicked «load backup», and it brought me to the save, but the save was renamed to «The Click the letter to begin. Estate». I messed around with this, and all save files acted like this. On the campaign selection screen, they would all be on normal mode week 0 despite what week or mode they were supposed to be on. I also started a bloodmoon run, and that didn’t even bring me to the old road, it just brought me to the estate with no heroes.
I then brought in my old save, and tried to load that up again. Clicking on the name, not the letter, actually worked this time! I didn’t get the error and crash. However, the loading screen was to the old road. It brought me to the estate, and I still had (almost) all my progress. So what’s the catch? It acted like the letter workaround, and didn’t save my progress, and it only happened once.
The second interesting thing about this is that, when I use the letter workaround, some things ARE saved. There was a lot of lost progress between when I originally crashed and where clicking the letter puts me now. However, the districts that I bought are saved. Not only that, but whenever I do a mission, exit to menu, then go back, my progress resets, but my mission list changes as if a week passed.
I think I can move my save into a save file that’s without steam, and continue it from there, but I would lose everything modded and I wouldn’t be able to use mods (to my knowledge). I really want to avoid that, and salvage my saves. Does anybody know anything about this that I might have missed?
I know that the line numbers with assert failed typically show you which solution you’re going for, but I haven’t found anybody else with 889, and no solution for it. I could really use some help, and I’m willing to try anything to recover my saves.
