Rating
Ratings (レート, rēto) are a system used by the Commission of Counter Ghoul to classify ghouls with respect to their perceived individual ability and threat level.

Definition
Ghouls are rated based upon various factors, including their basic strengths, activity levels, influence and hostility towards investigators. In modern-day, there are six rating levels, from SSS (the most powerful) to C (the weakest). In some cases, a tilde (
) is added to the base rating. This indicates that the ghoul is estimated to be at least that strong, but the rating may change once more is known about the subject.
Originally, ghouls were designated degrees, the CCG converted from this system to using the degrees’ rating equivalents — e.g. a «special third degree» (特三度, Toku san do) threat became an «SSS» rated ghoul. [1]
Rating Assessment Criteria
The rating of a ghoul is set through evaluation of the ghoul’s individual ability. The following criteria are employed to determine the rating according to their individual ability: [2]
SSS rated Criteria is unclear. SS rated Multiple Special Class Investigators are needed. S+ rated Equivalent to the ability of an average Special Class Investigator. (approx.) S- rated Equivalent to the ability of an average Associate Special Class Investigator. (approx.) A rated Comparable to a First Class Investigator. These ghouls are usually set as a target and some ghouls might develop a second tail/tentacle. B rated Comparable to a Rank 1 to Rank 3 Investigator. These ghouls should have their Kagune mastered and are usually a small threat to the CCG. C rated Ghouls of smaller ability, these ghouls usually can’t fight any ghoul investigators and only attack unarmed humans.
In addition to the ghoul’s individual ability, the actual damage caused by the ghoul is also evaluated. The rating is set in consideration of the predation and killing incidents committed by the ghoul.
For some ghouls, their influence over other ghouls is also taken into account when ratings are given. [3]

Гулям присваиваются ранги в соответствии с различными факторами, которые включают в себя их базовые способности, уровень активности и степень агрессивности по отношению к следователям. Данная схема позволяет подобрать наиболее эффективную тактику против гуля того или иного ранга. Существует 6 рангов, от C (низший и слабый) до SSS (высший и самый опасный).
Критерии определения ранга
Ранг присваивается гулю посредством оценки его индивидуальных способностей. Ниже перечислены критерии, которые позволяют провести наиболее точную оценку возможностей гуля: [1]
Помимо индивидуальных способностей гуля также оценивается и нанесенный им ущерб. Ранг учитывает степень его хищности и количество совершенных гулем убийств. В Центре Заключения Гулей в соответствии с рангом гулей определяется уровень, на котором он будет содержаться: так, для гулей рангов C – A+ (см. ниже) предназначен первый, для S – второй, для SS – третий, для SSS – четвертый и самый глубокий.

«, это означает, что все способности гуля до сих пор не известны. Например, ранг Змея был S
