I have a problem with installing my mods. I wanted to install PCEA2 (Player Exclusive Animations) [www.nexusmods.com] for my Skyrim. I already had FNIS installed so I just downloaded the mod and went ahead with installing it. Then I ran the FNIS patch (GenerateFNISforUsers.exe in Skyrim/data/toolsGenerateFNISforUsers) exactly as instructed (as administrator), double checked what mods I have and what I don’t, ticked the right options and clicked on Update FNIS Behavior.
The first time I did this, everything was ok, I installed it and it worked perfectly in the game. Then something went wrong with my Dual Sheath Redux which is dependent on FNIS. I had to reinstall DSR and in the process I messed up with FNIS, so I just took the whole thing, uninstalled it and everything dependent on it, created a clean save and installed it again in the exact same order I had before. Now when I run the FNIS patch, I end up with an error:
The problem is, I do have PCEA installed. Well, it’s PCEA2, but the instructions page says it should work with FNIS just like the old PCEA (which is not accessible anymore), and since it did work before, I can’t figure why it doesn’t work anymore. I run the patch as an admin and have all the necessary plugins active. Can you help me with this?
Just please, two things.
1) I do NOT want to use Mod Organizer, because I have over 130 mods installed via the Nexus Mod Manager and every time I tried to use Mod Organizer, it messed with my loading order and everything went wrong.
2) Yes, I checked a lot of forums and videos but could not find a solution for this particular issue. I found a thread saying that FNIS is not compatible with NMM and requires some list of mods used, but I couldn’t figure what list of mods they meant, where I should get it and where it’s supposed to go.

I installed FNIS by watching everything that Gopher did. But when i update FNIS behaviour i get this:
ERROR(2022): PCEA patch ticked, but PCEA is not installed
When i launch the game it says that i did not update it. I did create a new «mod» from the overwrite files that it says for me to and i putted them just below FNIS and PCEA but i still can’t have PCEA. In Gophers video it says that when i first launch it it will give me a txt file saying Don’tAskAgainForLink.txt in the overwrite, but it seems to be outdated as i get no such thing. I only get something called MyPatches.txt and Temporary Logs. So i moved both of them into FNIS
Then i clicked Update FNIS Behaviour and it gives me that error but i still got the overwrite files. I clicked create mod with the overwrite files, named it «FNIS Animations 0.1». But PCEA is not showing up. The game sees it and loads it but it says i did not update fnis behaviour when i go to the MCM
What am i doing wrong?
EDIT: I solved the problem. Although i can delete this. I am not very sure yet.
Are you using PCEA or PCEA2?

According to this you do not have PCEA, but PCEA2. You do not need FNIS patch for that. PCEA2 is standalone.
You have also selected patches for other mods you do not have. Those are indeed FINS patches and not mods themselves.
Looks like you are missing up to date skeleton. Install XPMSE and move it as last full mod in your MO left panel. Run FNIS again after that.
If you want to use some of those mods mentioned in patches, then they are included in this pack. Remember that PCEA and PCEA2 are not compatible. PCEA is a bit trouble, so I would recommend using PCEA2 instead.

I am sort of confused. I do not want the patches/other mods, i just thought that FNIS comes with them and allows me to choose if i want them or not. So i thought «Why not?»
Second. Is XP32 NAP actually PCEA2? Do i HAVE to download XP32 MSE and NAP?

I strongly recommend installing XPMSE. Several mods require up to date skeleton and vanilla skeleton is lacking. XPMSE comes with full set of up to date nodes, XML files and animation support. It is one of those mods that you just should install and keep. It does not cause any problems in your game, but it is likely to solve several possible problems you may face.

I solved it. I just disabled the patches for the mods i don’t have.
However, i shall download XPMSE as you say.
EDIT: Crap, XPMSE requires Realistic Ragdolls Force. I really don’t want to change it, i want my ragdolls to go flying!

It is best to always provide full reports from FNIS. I only noticed this problem, because I knew what to look for and managed to conformed it from a partial line in your picture.

You know, it may be that installing games under Program Files (x86) is not always the best idea. It is a restricted folder and can cause problems for moddable games and related tools.
My own games are in D:\SteamGames.
You can set the target folder for games from the client, but let the actual Steam system file remain under Program Files (x86).
Steam > Settings > Downloads > Target Libraries

Hello everyone! so im new to pc gaming and even newer to skyrim moding, i still dont know how to use nexus or even if this is the right place to be asking questions. anywany, i am currently modding my game and the «FNIS generator for users» tells me «error(2022): PCEA patch ticked, but PCEA is not installed» I don’t know what this means so I searched the forums for answers and still don’t know exactly how to fix the problem.
Id appreciate any help anyone can give me, I am not the most tech savvy person, so sorry if I missed the complete obvious. again I am still learning how to mod and use the nexus site itself (I’ve only been doing this for about three days now)
When you have problems with specific mod, then you usually are better off going to the mod’s comment section.
Regarding the message: doesn’t the text tell you all? You ticked to patch PCEA, but PCEA is not installed on your system.
Maybe you have PCEA2 installed, and for that you don’t need this patch. A frequent mistake.
thanks for the response, I do have pcea2 installed and I figured out that the boxes at the bottom of the generator are the ones I’m supposed to check. when I did uncheck the mods I don’t have the error message wasn’t there anymore, did I solve the problem? again thanks for taking the time to respond!
Now i think I have a new problem, after I was done with the fnis generator I started up skyrim and started a new game, but when I clicked «new game» it made the starting sound (the clashing of swords and shouting) it didn’t do anything the dragon logo is still there but all the options are gone, its not frozen because all the fog is still moving, what did I do wrong? I appreciate any assistance anyone can provide. thanks

I too have this issue and do not know the fix for it. some mods load and work fine others don’t even load at all.and the mods on the ps3 for SKyrim special edition are not as diverse.

Did you run generatefnisforusers? It is necessary for the mod to function. FNIS has no MCM menu.

Have you set up generate to run as executable through MO? The bad installation errors means it is not.

β’Download FNIS using the «Download with manager» button.
β’Open the ‘Downloads’ tab and double-click to install FNIS Behaviour 6.0.
β’Select the ‘Manual’ option and expand the FNIS Behaviour 6.0 label using the arrow icon to its left.
β’Right-click the ‘Data’ label now visible and select «Set data directory».
β’Message at the bottom of the dialog changes to read: ‘Looks good’.
β’Hit ‘OK’.
β’A dialog should appear if you already have a previous version asking to ‘Merge, Replace, Rename or Cancel’. Select ‘Rename’ and rename it to something specific.
β’At this stage the FNIS Behaviour 6.0 and any previous versions will be installed together.
β’Deselect any previous version of FNIS Behaviour and activate ONLY the FNIS Behaviour 6.0 and any animation packages you want.
β’——IMPORTANT—— : If you have already set up FNIS in the ‘Executables’ list and created shortcuts either on the toolbar or the desktop, these will be pointing to the wrong generator and will produce errors.
β’Modify the list to point to the correct executable and ensure you save this by pressing, «Modify».
β’You can now run this tool via the ‘Run’ drop-down selection box or via a shortcut and FNIS will run and update the animations.
